Abstract:

The improvement in the performance of the parabolic solar collector system plays a vital role in the utilizations of solar energy. A multitude of the researches focus on the factors of the thermal efficiency of a parabolic trough solar collector. They have been found useful in many low concentration applications, where ease of operation, and low cost are important criteria. The CPC receives direct solar radiation from the sun approximately 700-950 W/m2 and converts water into steam at temperature around 120?C with flow rate of water approximate 60 LPM. The research work includes the simulation and analysis the heat transfer phenomenon (radiation and convection) associated with Heat Collection Element (HCE) of CPC. The main objectives to investigate heat losses (radiation and convection) associated with receiver of Solar Compound Parabolic Collector (CPC) and effects of influencing parameter on CPC by using solar ray tracing and DO irradiation method of CFD code of ANSYS FLUENT 14.5
